HS2 Update – December 2022

December 2022 Newsletter Update Hanchuch Interchange M6, J15 Final

Further to the last newsletter we sent to you in September 2022, we wanted to give you an update on our progress.

We are continuing with our detailed design for the highway improvements on the Hanchurch Interchange, Newcastle Road, A500 and Newcastle/Trentham junction. As the design has been progressing, we have reviewed our work programme and have made changes accordingly.

We now anticipate starting a small section of vegetation clearance during February and March 2023 on Clayton Road and on the westbound verge of the A500 approaching the Hanchurch Interchange, we are not currently planning to include Newcastle Road (adjacent to Eddie Stobart’s) in this phase of works.

We will distribute an Advanced Works Notification (AWN) early in the New Year with more details about the vegetation clearance.

Following the vegetation clearance, we will begin our enabling works in late spring/early summer 2023, which will include

• Construction of temporary site compound on Clayton Road
• Utility diversionsWe will hold a community information event in spring 2023 regarding future works.In the meantime, I am offering a one-to-one resident meeting on either 11 or 12 January 2023.
